Best Sleepover Activity

sos activity -->

At room 28/29's sleepover my favourite activity was the team exercise. You had to create a skit, song or dance about the theme civil defence 'Get Ready Get Thru'. This was my favourite activity because it involved lots of creativity, imagination and thinking all at the same time, also this was run by my mum!!! At first my team was struggling with ideas, we all thought we had no creative juices. We started to share some ideas, but we still found it hard. My mum told us there was some pretty good teams and it is pretty hard to beat. So our leader (Brylee) decided we would do all three things a song, dance and a skit! I thought this would be impossible with the amount of time we had left. We got a few ideas then gave up again! We decided to do just a skit. We did a funny skit about an earthquake evacuation. It was short but sweet! The most surprising thing was we made a skit that could of really happened in an earthquake. The funniest thing was creating ideas. In the end we only got a 3.5, but I wasn't surprised neither was my group, but we had so much fun!

Phoebe's Multiplication Strategies

Reflection:

I found the place value strategy easy because I know how to split numbers easily. I found this helpful because I learnt some new strategies.

Next time I will practise using some of these strategies to work out harder problems e.g. compensation.

Phoebe's 'City Of Ember' Tagul

Reflection:
This term our class has been reading a novel called The City Of Ember. I have created a light bulb with key words inside and I created it on a website called Tagul https://tagul.com/cloud/1. In the book they live in a poor city and have never been into the outside world and may not even know there is an outside world. I found this easy because I can identify key words in the book easily. I found this hard trying to remember some of the more complex words from the story. Next time I could add a few more wow words.

My Holiday Poems

Reflection:

These are my holiday poems. I write these about my trip to Rotorua New Zealand. I found this easy because I could remember my trip really well. I found this hard because it was a bit tricky remembering to add in my 5 senses . Next time I could use more of my 5 senses.

Daffodil Diamante Poem

Reflection:
I am learning to write a diamante poem. In this I described a daffodil and a bulb.  The thing I found easy was, thinking of the adjectives, nouns and verbs to put in. I learnt a lot about daffodils and the bulb which the daffodil grows out of.  I think I don't have much to work on next time.

My Volcano Art

My Speech

Reflection
This is my speech for 2014. The topic is Why Minecraft Is Good For Kids Minds. It took a lot of time to write and do research for more information. It was easy because I had the internet to help me out. It was hard because there was a lot to think about like: Adding humour, facts, punctuation etc. My next step is to add a few seconds longer to it.

Cry of the Taniwha Prejudice Example

My Reflection

I have been learning how to create a prejudice example, of a character from the class book we are reading 'Cry Of The Taniwha'. I have chosen a character called Scott Murray (Skulla). The thing I found hard was trying to remember the good and bad things about the character. The thing I enjoyed was learning to create a example of prejudice, and then doing it. My next step is to add more details on how people perceive him and how he really is.

Soccer Field Day 2014

Reflection:
This is my certificate from the Soccer Field Day 2014. The Soccer Field Day is basically like a soccer tournament, except we don't collect scores and no body is a winner, it's just about getting out there playing soccer against other people and having fun. I found this was a really fun day and I would love to do it again next year.

Fractions Of A Set

Reflection:

This is my fractions of a set work presentation. I found this easy because I have been working hard on my unit fractions. I found this hard because I needed to work on my multiple fractions of a set. Next time I could add in more ways and different problems to work out.

Pepeha Art

Reflection:

This is my Pepeha. I added in a  toru maunga (three mountain) a awa (river) a moana (ocean) a whare (house) and a oke rāua paina (oak & pine trees) . First we had to draft our designs in our art books, then draw them in pencil on a long peice of paper, then trace over in vivid, then we coloured it in with crayon, then coverd it in dye. I found the dyeing easy because all we did was spread it all over the paper. I found the crayon a bit hard because the blending with the colours was a little tricky. Overall the art was very fun and I'm very proud of how it has turned out.

My Special Place at school

Reflection
I was learning how to add detail using my five senses.
One thing that worked well for me was going to my special place to get ideas.
One thing I could do better next time is to use my smell sense.
Overall I found this work fun because I love to write using my senses, and also writing about my favourite places.

Obituary Leslie Burke

Reflection
I was learning how to write an obituary about Leslie Burke from the novel Bridge To Terabithia.
One thing that worked well for me was that we got to watch the movie and the book to help us out a lot when writing this.  One thing I could do better next time is to write more things about how Leslie helped out people in the story.  Overall I thought this work was fun because we got to write a real obituary about a person and add in the years she was alive and even put in pictures.

Compare Characters

                                            My Reflection:
I found this easy because I could relate to the characters really well, especially Leslie.
I didn't find this task tricky.
My next step is to put in some wow words.

Did you ever

My Reflection:
I found this tricky because it was a bit hard finding wow words for my three nouns.
I think I did well on finding my topic on Jump, and although finding wow words for my nouns I think  I did pretty well.
My next step is to put in more nouns.

Kennings poem

My Reflection:
I found this tricky because I wanted to find a lot of facts about me and putting them into good words for the poem.  I found it easy finding facts about me just not choosing words to go with them.
My next step is to find more wow words to put in.

Making and Breaking numbers

My Reflection:
I was learning that numbers can be made and broken up in a number of different ways.
I found it tricky because it was a bit frustrating finding a lot of ways to make and break 20.
I found it easy because i know my basic facts really well and that helped me a lot.
Also I used my strategies and patters really well.
I found this work interesting because it made me think really hard about my sums and it made me improve on my division & my times tables.
My next step is to put more ways to make and break the magic number.
